This 5-day horse trek is perfect for those who want a real Mongolian horseback adventure without venturing too far from Ulaanbaatar. Starting from Terelj National Park, you’ll cross rivers, gallop across vast green valleys, and ride deep into the forests of Gunjin Soum, home to the mysterious Princess Temple (Gunj Temple) hidden among the pine-covered mountains.

Along the way, you’ll camp beside rivers, share tea with nomadic families, and experience life in the open steppe — where wild nature, peace, and freedom meet. It’s an unforgettable way to discover Mongolia’s culture and wilderness in just a few days.

Day 01. Meet the Nomadic Family & Start Riding

Drive from Stepperiders Camp to Terelj National Park and meet your friendly nomadic hosts.
They’ll welcome you with milk tea and help you choose your horse.
After learning basic riding tips, start your adventure! Cross the Tuul River, ride through open valleys with herds of horses and yaks, and camp beside a quiet stream.

Day 02. Ride Across Green Valleys

Today you’ll ride across wide grasslands and rivers surrounded by beautiful hills.
Enjoy a few gallops in the open fields and take breaks to enjoy the stunning scenery.
In the evening, set up camp by a river — perfect for a small fire and relaxing under the stars.

Day 03. Arrive in Gunjin Soum

Ride through pine forests and peaceful valleys until you reach Gunjin Soum.
The path becomes wilder and more exciting as you cross streams and marshy areas.
Set up camp near the forest and enjoy dinner surrounded by nature.

Day 04. Visit Gunj Temple & Return to Nomadic Family

After breakfast, ride to the Gunj Temple ruins, also called the Princess Temple — an ancient and sacred place hidden in the forest.
Explore the site and enjoy the calm mountain view.
In the afternoon, ride back to the nomadic family’s home, return your horse, and share a warm farewell dinner together.

Day 05. Drive Back & Visit Genghis Khan Statue

After breakfast, we’ll pack up and start the drive back toward Ulaanbaatar. Along the way, we will stop to explore Turtle Rock and the peaceful Aryabal Meditation Temple. Our final visit will be the impressive Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue before continuing to the city.
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar marks the end of your unforgettable adventure in MonAfter a traditional breakfast with your nomadic hosts, say goodbye and drive back to Stepperiders.
On the way, stop at the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue, the world’s largest horse statue, for photos and views over the steppe.
Arrive back at Stepperiders Camp by lunchtime — relax and enjoy your final cup of tea on the terrace.
