Stepperiders was founded in 2007 by Mendee and Baynaa — a Mongolian family with deep roots in nomadic culture and a simple ambition: to share the real Mongolia with travelers who wanted something more than a tourist circuit.
Seventeen years later, we are still family-run, still based at our camp in Tuv Province, and still guided by the same belief that the best way to experience this country is slowly, on horseback, in the company of people who genuinely know it.
Our herd of 200 horses — matched carefully to each rider's experience — is the heart of what we do. Our guides grew up with horses and know the land they ride across. Our camp cook, Tuvshuu, has been feeding hungry trekkers for years. The people guests remember by name when they get home are the same people who have been here since the beginning.
We also run jeep expeditions across the Gobi Desert, Khuvsgul Lake, Central Mongolia, and the Khentii Mountains — for travelers who want to cover more ground without the saddle.
Throughout everything, we work directly with local herder families and nomadic communities. When you stay with a family on trek, you are a guest in their home — not a staged experience. That connection is what we are most proud of.
When you choose Stepperiders, you are not booking a product. You are traveling with people who care about Mongolia, who care about your safety, and who will be genuinely happy to see you again.
Travel deeper. Ride freely. Discover Mongolia with confidence.
