Accommodations

Stepperiders Camp sits just 20 km from Ulaanbaatar's international airport — roughly 22 minutes by car — which means guests can step off a long-haul flight and be sitting outside a traditional ger, looking out across open countryside, within the hour. There is no need to spend your first night in the city.

The camp accommodates up to 100 guests across two types of accommodation, both designed to give you a genuine sense of where you are.

Traditional Mongolian Gers Six hand-decorated gers, each with room for 2–5 guests, offer the closest thing to nomadic life with the comfort of proper beds, warm blankets, and a stove for cool evenings. Falling asleep in a ger, with the steppe quiet outside and stars overhead, is something guests consistently describe as one of their most memorable nights.

Private Houses Six private cabins offer a little more space and privacy — ideal for families, couples, or guests who prefer their own room after a long day in the saddle. They are simple, comfortable, and well-maintained.

Food Our cook Tuvshuu has been feeding Stepperiders guests for years, and her food — hearty Mongolian meals made from fresh local ingredients, always with vegetarian options available — is something people mention in reviews long after they leave. Meals are served in our two restaurant spaces, where guests from different countries tend to end up sharing stories over dinner.

What you can do from camp The camp is the starting point for all our horse treks and jeep expeditions. But even guests who aren't trekking ride daily — we offer morning and afternoon rides of up to four hours across the steppe surrounding the camp, suitable for complete beginners. Archery equipment is available any time. And for guests who simply want to rest, the outdoor terrace and the hill walks above the camp are quietly beautiful.

For longer adventures, our herd of 200 horses supports multi-day treks of up to 13 days into Mongolia's most remote landscapes. Our jeep tours cover the Gobi Desert, Khuvsgul Lake, Central Mongolia, and the Khentii Mountains — from one day to sixteen.

A team you can rely on Our staff have been with Stepperiders for years. They know the camp, they know the horses, and they know Mongolia. Someone is always on hand — day or night — whether you need a riding lesson, a towel, directions, or just a good conversation.

Stepperiders Camp is not a resort. It is a working camp, close to nature, run by people who love this place. That is what makes it different.

Stay close to nature. Discover Mongolia at your own pace.
