After breakfast, we drive to a local nomadic family who keeps and cares for our expedition horses.

After an early lunch with the family, we mount up and begin our journey toward the dramatic landscapes of Terelj National Park, riding across open meadows, forest edges, and gentle passes.

Today’s adventure leads us across deep forest trails and two scenic mountain passes.
Wildflowers, old larch trees, and open ridges create a constantly changing landscape.
In the afternoon, the terrain widens into sweeping valleys dotted with the winter camps of local herders.
We turn north into the peaceful Baruun Bayan Gol Valley, our home for the night.

We continue deep into the back-country following the wide valley of Baruun Bayan Gol.
Ahead, the high plateaus of the Khentii Mountains rise dramatically.
We climb a ridge marked by an ovoo and Buddhist stupa—traditional markers for travelers—before entering a narrow canyon with towering rock walls for our lunch break.
In the afternoon, we ride through open steppe and rock formations until reaching our next campsite near Princess Valley.

Our path today follows rolling hills to the ruins of the Princess Temple, a quiet and atmospheric site hidden among rocky formations.
After a scenic picnic at a high viewpoint, we descend into tranquil grasslands.
By late afternoon, we arrive at Blue Rock Creek, known for its crystal-clear water and peaceful setting.

This morning we ride up to the high ridgelines, offering some of the most breathtaking views of the entire trek.
From the top, the valleys, passes, and rock formations of the past days stretch out in every direction.
After lunch on the ridge, we descend through a quiet forested valley and return to Baruun Bayan Gol, where our camp is already prepared.

A relaxed but beautiful ride awaits today.
We cross a small pass into the Tuul River Basin, one of Mongolia’s most scenic river valleys.
We enjoy lunch in the shade of riverside trees, then follow the river downstream before climbing another gentle pass back to camp.

We begin our return toward Terelj National Park, enjoying long stretches of open steppe ideal for trotting and cantering.
The landscape alternates between forests, meadows, and soft riverbanks.
By late afternoon, we reach our campsite near the Khurkheriin River, a perfect place to rest after a full day in the saddle.

Our last full riding day leads through the upper Terelj River Valley, crossing small streams and following soft trails shaded by larch trees.
After a final picnic lunch, we ride over one last scenic pass before returning to the nomadic family’s home—closing the circle of our journey.
We say goodbye to our horses, thank our nomadic hosts, and drive back to Stepperiders Camp for a warm shower, good dinner, and a well-deserved rest.
